After yesterday’s record 27,677 new coronavirus infections, for the first time no final data have been released from ministries today. The reason is an unfinished data cleaning, said the Ministry of Health. According to raw data in the Epidemiological Reporting System (EMS), 25,592 new infections were reported. However, these still need to be adjusted for duplicate reports in the states.
Assuming the raw data, new coronavirus infections throughout Austria are likely to remain at least at a continuing high level of over 20,000 tested positive today. Already yesterday, the publication of the final data lasted until late afternoon.
From the Ministry of Health it was said in the morning that the current strong increase is also reflected in the EMS figures. However, the ministry emphasized to APA that all registration systems – including the EMS – are currently running without restrictions and without disruptions.
Delays likely also in the coming days
Due to the high number of cases and the complexity of the evaluation, however, there may be delays in the publication of the daily quality-assured case numbers, and this is also to be expected in the coming days. We are working at full speed to optimize the processes for publishing the case numbers in Austria.
As far as the value of the raw data of 25,592 is concerned, this will settle down again to a lower value after the adjustment of the double reports from the federal states. Already yesterday, 31,070 new infections were initially reported in the EMS, which eventually became the 27,677 cases, so more than a tenth fell away.
